The Family Health Centers of Southern Indiana strive to follow a patient centered medical home model. This means we want to be accountable for the majority of each patient's physical and mental health care needs, such as prevention and wellness, acute and chronic care. We strive to provide health care that is relationship based on focused on the whole person, all while coordinating care across all elements of the broader health care system; including specialty care, hospitals, home health care, and community services. Our model of care seeks to make primary care accessible through minimizing wait times, offering extended office hours, allowing patients after-hours access to providers, and demonstrating a commitment to quality and quality improvement.

The Family Health Center of Clark County first opened in February 1992. Over the years, this location has grown and is now funded as a Federally Qualified Health Center through the Bureau of Primary Care. The Jeffersonville site serves as the main location for services and supports the Floyd, Harrison, and Clarksville sites. The FHCSI Jeffersonville is a state funded community Health Center supported by many local charitable and private donors and is a Metro United Way sponsored organization. We are thankful for the continued support helping us to provide over 30 year of health care to the residents of Southern Indiana.

The Family Health Center of Floyd County started seeing patients in February 2000. The Floyd site is certified as a Federally Qualified Healtch Center under the scope of Service of the Clark County grant and is also a state funded Community Health Center. FHCSI Floyd County is also supported by many local charitable and private donors, funded by community agencies such as Horseshoe Foundation and is a Metro United Way sponsored organization. We are thankful for all of our supporters in the community.

The Family Health Center of Harrison County was incorporated April 2006. The Harrison County location is a Federally Qualified Health Center location and a state funded Community Health Center. We are thankful for all of our supporters in the community.

Through a grant from the American Recuse Plan Act (ARP) we were able to purchase a 2 chair, full service mobile dental unit in Sept 2022. This will allow us to gain more access to help with the underserved dental needs in the southern Indiana area. For more information on locations and scheduling check out the Contact Us tab above.
The Family Health Centers of Southern Indiana are a covered entity under the Federal Tort Claims Act
A patient who alleges acts of medical malpractice by a deemed health center cannot sue the center or the provider directly, but must file the claim against the United States.
These claims are reviewed and/or litigated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the General Counsel and the Department of Justice according to FTCA requirements. HRSA pays for all settlements and judgments from a separately appropriated Health Center FTCA Judgment Fund. Currently, there are 956 deemed Health Centers, covering 15,000 people.
Congress enacted FTCA medical malpractice protection for Federally-supported health centers through the Federally Supported Health Centers Assistance Act (FSHCAA) of 1992 (P.L. 102-501) and FHSCAA of 1995 (P.L. 104-73), later codified as 42 U.S.C. Section 233 (a) – (n). (HRSA.gov)
